(CNN) -- Chris Brown and Rihanna's careers will go head to head again on Friday, when the pair release music videos on the same day.

Brown will join talk show host Wendy Williams for a sit-down and the premiere of his video for "Crawl," from his forthcoming album "Graffiti," and Rihanna will debut her video for "Russian Roulette" on ABC's "20/20" later that evening.

The line-up is like déjà vu of October 30, when ABC aired an exclusive interview with Rihanna in which she detailed Brown's abuse of her, while Brown discussed his version of their personal struggles with MTV News.

Both singers have albums coming out in the next several weeks and both will begin touring before the end of the year. Rihanna's collaboration with Jay-Z and Kanye West, "Run This Town," is currently at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart. Brown's "I Can Transform Ya" with Lil' Wayne and Swizz Beatz is currently at number 24. Making television appearances and being available to fans is a major part of both artists selling their music in a tough economic climate.

According to psychologist Cooper Lawrence, author of "The Cult of Celebrity," though the media has painted him as the villain, fans will continue to rally around Chris Brown as long as he keeps doing what he is doing: publicly apologizing, remaining in the spotlight, touring and making music.

"True fandom is something like a cult that brainwashes you where you are unwilling to see the reality of the person you admire," Lawrence said. "His fans will keep buying his albums because they want to feel like they are helping him. Supporting him through this tough time makes fans feel like they are a part of Brown's inner circle."

In his interview with MTV News' correspondent Sway, Brown said he is trying to find a way to move beyond the incident last February, in which he assaulted Rihanna in Los Angeles, California, on the eve of the 2009 Grammy Awards.

"It's like, 'How do we get past it? How do you, Chris' -- talking to myself -- 'How do you go from point A to point B? How do you learn from your mistakes, turn it into a positive and help other people with the situation, and at the end of the day become the person that you want to be?' " Brown said on MTV.

Gail Mitchell, senior R&B correspondent for Billboard magazine, says she believes Brown's core fan group hasn't gone anywhere and that they are sticking by him.

"His fans don't condone anything and they know that this situation wasn't good but they are more concerned about what he is coming out with musically," Mitchell said. "If the song is good, then the song is good. People will buy his album."

"The View" co-host Sherri Shepherd admitted last week that she bought her nieces tickets to an upcoming Brown concert because she believes he deserves forgiveness and a second chance. And Wendy Williams is welcoming him with open arms on Friday.

Brown, it seems, will always have a place to tell his story and that will help him continue to sell music.

But some publicity outlets will remain closed to Brown for the near future. He probably won't be allowed to appear on Oprah Winfrey's show, for example, as the host did a show on domestic violence inspired by Rihanna and has said that Chris will not be welcome on her stage. She also entreated the singer to take time to get the counseling he needs.

I think CNN is way wrong by saying fans are sticking with him and they are brainwashing themselves...

After months of seclusion, taking time to heal privately from the tragic death of their son Jett, John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston came out to celebrate the premiere of their daughter Ella Bleu’s first ever film debut in Disney’s Old Dogs.

Lucky enough to be starring in a movie with iconic stars such as Robin Williams and both of her actor parents, Ella Bleu finally received her wish to be in a movie with daddy.

Lori Laughlin, from 90210, co-stars alongside the nine-year-old newbie and exclusively revealed to OK! that John took the role only because of what his daughter asked him two days before he received the script,

According to Lori, Ella knew that Will Smith and his son had done a film together and said,”Daddy when I can I do a movie with you?”

Drawing inspiration from Will, Ella, who stars as Marley Greer in the film, was all smiles as she walked down the carpet on Monday and her parents couldn’t have been more thrilled.

John gushed to reporters standing by his beaming daughter, “It’s amazing! We are here for her.”

Scientologists: Did Tom Cruise offer to give a beatdown to disobedient members?

Did Tom Cruise offer to personally “beat the living [bleep]” out of disobedient Scientologists?

Cruise’s lawyer and church spokesmen vigorously dispute the claim, but a former high-ranking Scientologist official says he “documented” that church leader David Miscavige once asserted that Cruise would lend his “Top Gun” muscle to do just that.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Girl meets boy. Girl falls hard for boy. Boy dumps girl. It’s a classic tale. But in the case of Jessica Simpson it’s more like a broken record. Ever since she split with husband Nick Lachey in 2005, the singer has been looking for love in all the wrong places – and with all the wrong guys.

The latest Mr. Wrong? Gerard Butler. The pair were spotted out with Jessica’s BFF, hairdresser Ken Paves, in NYC at the end of October, but just two weeks later Gerard was reportedly swapping spit with another lovelorn blonde — Lindsay Lohan.

So what went on between Jessica and Gerard? It was all too much, too soon. After just a couple of dates Jessica got too serious and, an insider says, Gerard ran — not walked — to the nearest exit.

“Jessica has a habit of getting too needy too soon, and she scares men away,” the pal tells BettyConfidential. “She’s desperate to not be alone and every guy she's dated since Nick complains about the same thing — she’s too needy.”

In a decidedly A-list move, Kathy Griffin will return for a sixth season of her Bravo reality laugh-fest, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

“Let’s just say we are hoping the premiere episode will be Cher-tastic,” Griffin says of her show, which documents the comedian’s adventures in Hollywood, where she sometimes gets the star treatment and sometimes does not. In the last season, Kathy got lessons on how to be an A-lister from stars like Bette Midler, Paris Hilton and Rosie O’Donnell.

In the new season, Kathy will continue traipsing around the globe with Team Griffin, her mother, a box of wine and maybe even Levi Johnston, her rep said.

“Wasilla here we come!” Kathy says.

Shooting of the 10-episode season gets under way in January.

Tom Ford
’s A Single Man trailer might have been “de-gayed,” but his interview with The Advocate certainly wasn’t. Now Ford is dishing with The Advocate about his film and his early life experience, both professionally and personally. He shares everything from working with Yves Saint Laurent to his first gay sexual experience after a night at Studio 54!

“I never knew I liked men sexually until Ian came into my life. And he wasn’t just my first male kiss. The first blow job I ever gave anyone was the one I gave to Ian in the back of a cab on the way home from a night at Studio 54 as we made our way down to where he lived on Eighth Street and Fifth Avenue. Of course, it was a Checker cab.”

“But being at Yves Saint Laurent was such a negative experience for me even though the business boomed while I was there. Yves and his partner, Pierre Bergé, were so difficult and so evil and made my life such misery…I’ve never talked about this on the record before, but it was an awful time for me. Pierre and Yves were just evil. So Yves Saint Laurent doesn’t exist for me.

First Kristin Cavallari dated Patridge’s ex Justin Bobby in what turned into the nasty saga playing out on MTV’s The Hills this season. Now, it’s onto another guy, Tal Cooperman, who Patridge dated last summer.

“It’s brand new. They’re having a lot of fun enjoying getting to know each other better,” says a source of Cavallari’s relationship with the co-owner of the DCMA Collective clothing line. “It’s not for the show. They hit it off and have been hanging out off-camera.”

Cooperman and Cavallari enjoyed a date night Thursday in Los Angeles, where they were spotted partying at an ESPN bash, sharing a sushi dinner at Nobu and kissing at West Hollywood hotspot Voyeur.

“They were making out on one of the club’s VIP stages after midnight,” says a clubgoer. “They were all over each other.”

The duo made sure to keep things under wraps by leaving the club separately but only after sealing their night with a kiss.

TURNS out ROD STEWART is even more of a lord than I thought he was.
He may be 64, but the Scottish singer's prowess on the football pitch shows no sign of waning.

In fact, FALL OUT BOY star PETE WENTZ says he's so good that some celebrities, including himself, have refused to play with him.

He says: "Rod holds these celebrity football games in LA.

"I did get an invite once but I had to turn down one once as I had a bad ankle.

"I was actually a bit scared too."

Britney Spears is breaking her silence on the lip-synching debate that has surrounding her first Australian tour.

"I hear there is a lot of controversy in the media about my show,"
Spears said Tuesday in a statement. "Some reporters have said they love it and some don't. I came to Australia for my fans!"

Spears has been under fire ever since she arrived in Australia last week. The Fair Trade Minister for the state of New South Wales kicked off the controversy by saying Australians would not tolerate a "Mickey Mouse" performance by the former Disney star.

The local media then reported that fans walked out of the singer's first Australian performance last Friday after just a few songs, describing her concert as "boring" and "stiff."

While Spears' camp has defended the outcry by saying it's common knowledge that the pop star lip syncs in concert, the Musicians Union of Australia believes more should be done to let Australian concert-goers know exactly what they're paying for.

"It's not right that people are going to the concert when they are being misled," Terry Noone, the union's federal secretary, told ABC News Online. "That's the issue. It's not about music, it's about false advertising."

"It all comes back to truth and accuracy," added Noone. "There should be a message saying if things are going to be lip-synced or mimed so that people know what they're buying."

Spears is due to play the first of three sold-out shows in Melbourne on Wednesday night before continuing the rest of her Australian run.

Lionsgate has officially released the first teaser trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s big screen adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic book Kick-Ass. For those of you who haven’t been following this project, the film was produced independently and the first footage won over the thousands of people packed into Hall H at Comic-Con. The story is essentially about an average teenager named Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero.

As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name — Kick-Ass — assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers. His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloë Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage).

Jeff Zucker to take charge of the NBC/GE/Universal/Comcast clusterfuck

NEW YORK -- Comcast and GE have agreed to make NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker the head of their proposed joint venture, but the structure of a new board is still being negotiated, sources familiar with the matter said.

The two sides have been in talks to reach a deal that would give Comcast a 51% stake in the NBC Universal venture, which would also house the cable networks now belonging to Comcast. They recently agreed to value NBC Universal at about $30 billion, sources previously told Reuters.

Under the terms being discussed, Zucker will lead the new entity, with no clauses for him to leave after a specific period, the sources said Tuesday. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the details have not been made public.

As part of the proposal, NBC Universal would become a joint venture, 51% owned by Comcast and 49% by GE. Comcast would contribute around $4 billion to $6 billion in cash, as well as its collection of cable networks to pay for its stake.
